La noche de San Juan y los fuegos artificiales

San Juan night and fireworks

Every year June brings us the official arrival of summer, and to announce it, a few days later we celebrate a magical night: San Juan night! Although their origins are diverse, the use of bonfires continues today, since fire has always been related to good luck. Do you have plans for that night?

The tradition of the night of San Juan

Human beings love traditions, especially those that include some type of celebration or party. Just as it happens with Christmas or Carnival , the origin of these holidays has little to do with the purpose in our time, which in most things is, as we tell you, taking advantage of the occasion to have a good time with our friends. family and friends .

The night of San Juan has a special character, since unlike other celebrations, it is only one night . And what's different about this one? Well, at least in the area of the planet in which we live, it is the shortest of the entire year . When summer arrives, the hours of daylight lengthen and we are left with very little darkness to go to sleep. So we better spend it awake!

But in addition to bonfires , which must be made with great care to avoid fires, fireworks are also often used . Bum Bum! A spectacle of color that illuminates the skies for a few fleeting seconds and whose explosion reverberates even in our hearts. Surely you've seen them before!

And what about the fireworks?

Although the night of San Juan is well received and many people of any age are encouraged to participate, fireworks do not always generate the same enthusiasm . Because? Well, let's think about an example so you can see it more clearly. Have your brothers or sisters or someone else ever hidden at home to scare you even though you don't like them doing it? Or if this is not your case, perhaps you are afraid of the dark or some animal or character from stories.

This fear or discomfort is the sensation that many boys and girls, as well as sick people and animals, feel when the fireworks sound on the night of San Juan or at any other party. Instead of being a spectacle of lights, colors and sounds, it becomes a real nightmare. It is very important to be able to put ourselves in the shoes of others , and thus understand what they feel. This is called empathy .

In the world, there are already countries and even cities within ours that have stopped using them. If we are able to find alternatives to help the planet , we can use our imagination to find others that are also respectful of all people and animals . And maybe we'll even like them more!

If this year you are going to celebrate San Juan night, take the opportunity to be aware of what you like and what you don't like to do at parties, and to remember all those people and animals that may or may not coincide with you. Let's be a big family!
