How are reborn babies born?

Reborn babies have many similarities to real babies, which is why they are also known as realistic babies. But of course, they also have some differences and one of them is found in their origin. If you have ever wondered how they are created, today we give you all the details about it!

Creation of reborn babies

Reborn babies are purchased in kits . That is, the loose body parts already come to be assembled. Before beginning handling, it is advisable to wash them with soap and water to eliminate a greasy layer that comes from manufacturing.

When they are dry, the creative part begins: the painting. The first layer of color that is applied to the vinyl is to neutralize the color that comes from the factory . Therefore, you have to go for colors that are opposite to the base one. Once the layer has dried, we can begin to add a wider variety of tones that will give the realistic touch . You will see these, for example, in the veins, in the dimples or in the folds of wrinkles, but also on the lips.

Although it may seem surprising, not only colors that resemble our skin are used, but also others such as blue. If you think about the human body, our blood is red, but through the veins and capillaries we see it in blue and greenish tones. For reborn babies to be realistic, they need to be added to their skin!

And how are they painted?

The materials needed for painting are brushes, sponges, a mixing bowl, thinner, and of course, the paints! First, mix some paint with solvent. It is important that it is well diluted, otherwise the tone will be very strong and realism will be lost. Using the brush, wet the sponge and then wipe it with absorbent paper to remove the excess.

With the sponge ready, touches are made on the surface of the reborn baby in an irregular manner. This goes for the head as well as the arms and legs. Once the layer is finished, they are placed in the oven without the pieces touching each other or with it. And so on with all the colors.

Realism in the body

The realism of reborn babies is also achieved through their hair and body. Hair grafts are the part that takes the most work . Although it is not essential, it gives them more realism than when it is painted. It is very fine and soft and comes from animals such as goats. To place it, you have to go one by one. A lot of patience is required!

Once the layers are finished, it is time to fill the body with ecoglass bags to make them soft , which are combined with miraguano, the natural fiber of the stuffed animals . That's why they are so cuddly! As a curiosity, Nadurines are also stuffed, so they are not like traditional dolls. The arms and legs also wear it, but without the jacket. If you squeeze you can feel that it sounds like sand!

Then you just have to dress them and we have the reborn babies ready to go to their new home. At Fun Surprises, we hope you found it interesting to learn how they are created and all the craftsmanship they involve. As we always say, they are not dolls, but authentic works of art.
